Artist Statement
I originally trained as a zoologist & biochemist and after university worked as Research Scientist for Shell U.K. However I have painted all my life and later studied Fine Art at Cheltenham Art College.
15 years farming in the Welsh Borders reduced time for painting but since emigrating to NZ 6 years ago I have reconnected with the art world.
The amazing light and dramatic landscape of my new country are exciting stimuli to use acrylics to develop my passion for colour and patterns. My work is continually evolving as, using the landscape as a starting point, I explore semi-abstraction and the language of colour. Recently I have extended this into studies of people , concentrating again on pattern and also body language.
To my delight, I have recently moved from Gisborne to live permanently in Coromandel town.
