ROBYN VINTEN

My Art

Artist's Statement
I moved to Tuateawa in 2017 after 35 years in London. I started on my pottery journey with a slab class at Driving Creek run by the wonderful Frederick Church. Over the years I have done various classes and I bought my own kiln a couple of years ago.
I live surrounded by the bush and the sea and these heavily influence my work both with the subject matter and colour. My best sellers are my puriri moths and my sting rays. I also hand build vases and imprint leaves of plants that I have in my garden. Recently I have been experimenting with underglazes to produce more brightly coloured pieces.
I belong to the fabulous ‘Moehau Pottery’ group, where I get to explore lots of different techniques and glazes in a fun and supportive environment. I do markets with my sisters under ‘The 3 Finches’ banner and on my own as ‘Tuateawa Ceramics’. These both have Facebook pages. I also have some work at the Source in Coromandel Town.
